Where to find A Job as a Dive Instructor

When you find yourself tired with your same uninteresting lifestyle you can begin wondering where to start a little more enjoyable occupation and also quality of life. If you love Scuba Diving, in that case your question is : have you thought to get a job in the scuba diving niche. Finding some sort of diving work is just not really hard, the real key is to know what form of certifications do you really need and ways to apply for the opportunities all over the whole world.

Being a professional scuba teacher you will need to complete numerous diving (blank) classes, have a wide range of experience plus dive quite a bit. It usually helps if you’re able to speak a different language or perhaps already have practical knowledge in other areas, like First-aid, Supervision, vessel know-how, mechanics, or anything else.

To become a scuba dive professional you will do 2 essential courses the Divemaster and the PADI IDC . The Divemaster course will give you a choice of working as a guide, this is usually a nice profession, though the wages are typically lower that the earnings a scuba teacher can make. To become a diving teacher you must do the PADI instructors training course.
As you carry out these types of classes, you’ll want to apply at diving jobs around the world. Before you head straight to scuba diving jobsites, make an effort to think carefully about your own goals and approximately the kind of employement conditions you wish as well as the nations around the world that you’re prepared to travel.

Don’t assume all the positions are exactly the same and working in Australia is quite different than working in Honduras or perhaps The red sea. You must be intelligent plus think using your brain, and work towards getting your best diving accreditations which will offer you the greatest possibility of discovering that perfect diving employment.

My best advice is usually to get hold of everyone by phone first, there’s nothing as good as chatting with people, as soon as you have the proper information then send the application through Diving jobsites or perhaps straight to the scuba store.

You’ll want to understand that finding a job will not be unattainable, yet it usually takes a little time, and when you get the ideal scuba career, it is advisable to bust your tail to keep the situation. Remain conscious that at some point you will need to go back home,as soon as you travel to your dive location, have a very good plan B. Health care insurance, employment insurance and present training position is essential to further improve the likelihood of finding a job opportunity.

Try to be patient and don’t believe the new dive job will be a holiday, some days could end up being truly challenging, yet always remember that every day scuba diving is way better compared with each day where you work!

Hence, I realize what you will be wondering… where to begin? Well, like any different scuba diving employment, begin with scuba diving quite a lot, speaking with people and view scuba divers jobs web pages, that enable you to get yourself some sort of distinct idea of where are the opportunities throughout the world. Mexico, the Red Sea, Australia plus Indonesia are wonderful sites to get started on your scuba employment hunting.

And so good fortune and I’ll see you under the water.

Cairns’ Reef

The Cairns harbour has a fleet that features some quite awesome dive boats. The most recent member of this fleet is the Seastar, just brought out this last week.

This excellent striking brand new charter boat is eighty ft long, and can make a journey out there to Seastar’s diving sites in under an hour. The vessel is going to be extremely fast and stable, together with plenty of shaded and air-conditioned interior room.

Seastar Cruises has generally prided itself on offering a very unique as well as personalized tour, and they happen to be evolving the locations to enhance the smaller group adventure which these people have usually delivered.

A lot of people love the main very simple fact that the business owners regulate the levels onboard to just 45 folks, well beneath the full capacity of the particular vessel; this means there is certainly lots of space on board. With the help of a faster vessel they can easily leave a bit less early on, but still always be the actual very first boat to go to see Michaelmas Cay, hence snorkelers along with birdwatchers have it just about all to themselves. This kind of tour will be the A-list escape meant for birdwatchers that would like to mix a wonderful reef trip with a probability to witness exotic seabird species.

Your speedier trip out there also means a whole lot more precious time can be spent on Michaelmas Cay in addition to Seastar’s other scuba mooring within Hastings Reef; visitors may currently spend in excess of 5 hrs out there on the ocean.

Lastly, the moment the Japanese start the annual fall/winter research whale hunt, they can be expecting the numerous followers along with protectors of Migaloo to be protesting the actual research. Even though the Japanese offer to actually continue heavy duty whaling had been knocked back again, for the first time in a number of years this controversial controlled chase will probably incorporate the taking of 60 Humpback whales, therefore Migaloo is going to be vulnerable as soon as he visits Antarctic locations the following springtime and summer time. The Great Barrier Reef was been honored with the international Travel with regard to Tomorrow award for Top Location at this springs Travel and leisure for The future Awards held in Lisbon, Spain. The prize, distributed by the World Vacationing and Travel Council, is reckoned among the list of “oscars” for the tourism world.

With all the headlines concerning the hazards associated with climatic change in the Great Barrier Reef it’s certainly great the fact that the reef has picked up an award with a name that features the words “Tourism towards Tomorrow” so we hold great hope regarding overseas endeavours increasingly being which are designed to curtail the actual quantity of co2 that is generated by human beings behavior. The important decisions, sacrifices, as well as preparation still has yet to come, however all of us remain optimists when it comes to protection of the reef.

During the past decade wonderful strides have been made to give protection to the reef, via a coordinated administration structure that looks at habits both within the reef such as offshore fishing along with tourisms, in addition to adjacent coastal areas. More than 30% of the Great Barrier Reef is entirely protected from angling and other extractive recreation in the last few years.

The particular prize sported this particular Judges’ opinion: “Enormous improvement has already been made to successfully incorporate your really complex travel and leisure marketplace within the control over incredibly large aquatic preservation region.”

The risk involving global warming extends well beyond the Great Barrier Reef, and it’s causes involve persons and industries al around the globe, not merely Australia. Most people expect to actually see a solid coalition of countries acting to decrease green house chemicals efficiently, as well as note that team include both Australia and the United States Of America.

A Cape York River Crossing

Leaving normality behind at Cairns, we journeyed up the Peninsula Developmental Road. This further deteriorated in to a dusty corrugated trail which wound along the route of the telegraph line, between giant termite mounds and across numerous rivers as much as the little Aboriginal city of Bamaga on Cape York. “The beginning of HELL — get back if you can”, announced an amusing handwritten sign even as we headed off into the wilderness!

River crossings of almost all manner and form interupted our own journey — with axle-deep mud, decaying wooden bridges (the actual odd log missing here and there to add to the task), deep dust or fast flowing water to keep you busy. It was a traditional four wheel drive journey. The grandest challenge, however, was the crossing in the Jardine River.

Even in the dry season, the Jardine River, just 35 km south of Bamaga, is a wide, one metre deep, fast-flowing river. In 1983, the luxury of a little ferry had just become offered to carry the vehicles carrying the less foolish across this famous barrier for that princely sum of $20. Many husband and wife battles then erupted by the banks of the Jardine because cautious wives and thrill-seeking husbands debated the relative merits from the challenging river crossing and also the tame punt ride. As newlyweds, we too had the dispute here, but in our case it was the adventure-seeking wife that desired the river journey!

To drive across a river such as this requires lots of preparation. A diesel motor like ours requires a lengthy air snorkel to attract air from well above any possible water level. Tyres must be deflated, waterproof covers packed across the engine and openings such as fuel tanks and doors should be thoroughly waterproofed. We watched with dread as numerous vehicles attempted the crossing — and several failed, becoming stuck mid-river with the crocodile infested waterss swirling across the driver’s feet and camping gear floating at the back of the vehicle!

Finally the adventure-seeking wife won out. A group of fellow Patrol travellers came to our help and gave us a snorkel along with covers which fitted the vehicle. So with our vehicle set up like a Christmas turkey, we drove down to the muddy waters of the Imposing Jardine.

Across the river all of us drove, pushing a moderate bow-wave ahead of us. John said it felt so excellent he wanted to change direction and keep driving the river! Then through a heart-stopping very deep hole near the end and up the steep bank we drove, masters of the Jardine. I bet they do not have this much fun if you do one of the organised Cape York Tours.

Our wet vehicle on the other hand seemed little the worse for its adventure. However, it cost us more to exchange the gearbox oils that had become waterlogged as opposed to little punt ride would have cost. So sanity prevailed on our return journey a month later and the Landcruiser got a drier ride over the Jardine on the car punt!

Aussies Have A Wicked Sense Of Humour

Folks Downunder enjoy reassuring tourists about the harmlessness of the wildlife and countryside while at the same time warning of its dangers. It comes out as a strange mix, making you undecided whether you should be relaxing or fearing for your life. Some Examples I have heard:

“Don’t stress when you’re diving: reef sharks are mostly harmless. Unless you annoy them”

” There’s no sharks here………….the croc’s ate them all”

“Stingrays are like pancakes with tails: they can’t hurt you. Just.don’t get too close.”

“Go ahead and swim with the freshwater crocs. They don’t hurt people.at least, unless you upset them.”

This snake is poisonous, but you’ll be right, it’s fangs are at the back of it’s mouth

“No-ones ever been left behind while snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, except that American couple, but they staged it.”

“Cairns is a safe city……………..just don’t walk alone .

“Kangaroos won’t hurt you. Well, unless they kick you in the head. Then you’re pretty much dead.”

Oh, and did you know that koalas, despite appearances, aren’t exactly cute and cuddly animals. They can actually get pretty viscious, which is why it’s so hard to find a place that will let you get a photo holding one.

I will either leave Australia with a healthy respect for animals or with plenty of fodder for nightmares. Though seeing as how I have already gone swimming with reef sharks, stingrays and crocodiles, I think I’ll be okay. I even now enjoy holding snakes, though I do prefer reassurances that it won’t bite me, even in a non-lethal way. Spiders are where I draw the line. I’m positive my arachnophobia is incurable.

My last five scuba diving holidays

1. Rangiroa, Polynesia

Few places have caught my imagination like Polynesia, and the secluded islands of the Tuamotu Archipelago, about 270 miles from Tahiti, felt incredibly remote. Rangiroa means “Long Sky” and it is one of the largest atolls on the planet. Two channels, named Tiputa and Avatoru, allow the Pacific into and out of the lagoon two times daily as the tides ebb & flow. I recall being carried through by the outgoing tide and sharing the ride with a school of manta rays and sometimes large tiger sharks, too. It is high adventure diving, but afterwards, the island is one of the most relaxed places in the world.

2.Holmes Reef, Coral Sea, Australia

Holmes Reef, positioned in the Coral Sea off is well known for it’s amazing visability, usually over 150 feet. While you are not diving the Great Barrier Reef , you will see similar species of marine life only much bigger. With some amazing caves, 3000 feet dropoffs, pinnacles, a turtle’s grave yard and some spectacular shark feeding no scuba diver should miss Holmes Reef. It is probobly the best and most reliable shark feeding in Australia.

3.Cozumel Mexico

The Island of Cozumel, off the Mexican coast, is ringed by by amazing coral and perfectly clear water; perfect for diving. Visibility can sometimes be up to 200 feet. Gentle currents running along to the reef are a drift diver’s dream. There are almost 20 recognised scuba diving locations, including amazing swim-throughs teeming with fish life. Cozumel is very friendly for the foreign tourist, it has affordable accommodation and exciting night life. Cave divers will enjoy a trip to the mainland to scuba dive the cenotes (freshwater caves). There are various quality dive centres to choose from in the main town of San Miguel.

4.Marsa Alam, Red Sea, Egypt.

Holidays to Marsa Alam offer amazing snorkelling and diving opportunities with thousands of kinds of tropical fish. Less crowded than its rival, Sharm el Sheikh, its perfect for exploring the best of what the Red Sea has to offer. Elphinstone reef is almost 200m long and almost 20m accross, and is one of the most popular dive sites in Marsa Alam and home to various species of sharks. Its excellent for experiencing the pink and purple corals, home to Lion Fish and if youre lucky you could even spot dolphins in these tropical waters.

5.Galapagos Islands

First visited by Charles Darwin and the Beagle, this group of islands is a place with experiences like none other place on the planet. The Galapagos Islands, off the coast of Ecuador, are much more than a hub of scientific discovery. Incredible moments are available to the average layman scuba diver as well, as divers can mingle freely underwater with tortoises as well as Iguanas and a myriad of other wildlife.
